The electrophoretic display (EPD) has the advantages of thin, flexible, lightweight, wide viewing angle, and easy to read in all lighting conditions. Since EPD is almost invariably reflective and bistable, it has been considered to be the best candidate to electronic paper (E-Paper) and electronic reader (E-Reader). An EPD film contains charged white and black particles suspended in a fluid. The charged particles are driven to the top or the bottom of the display according to the applied electric field. The basic concept of particle movement is quite trivial, but the approach to displaying more gray levels is quite difficult.
